Data Analytics Specialist

Government & Defence provides specialised logistics expertise, including relocation services. We manage and deliver a range of services on behalf of the Australian Department of Home Affairs in order to support Refugee and Humanitarian Visa applicants with the medical assessment process and subsequent travel to Australia.

The Role

Toll G&D are looking for a skilled and proactive Data Analytics System Specialist to join our IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing, supporting and optimizing data analytics solutions using Microsoft Azure services. You will work closely with business stakeholders to ensure the successful integration and operation of cloud-based data solutions. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Microsoft Azure data services, cloud-based data architectures, and data analytics, with a strong focus on performance, security, and scalability

To be successful as a Data Analytics Specialist you will need to:

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient data analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric services, including OneLake, Data Factory, Data Warehouse, Data Science, Power BI, Data Engineering, Microsoft Purview hub and other relevant services and tools.
  • Integrate data from various sources (on-premises, cloud, third-party) into MS Fabric-based data systems, ensuring smooth and reliable data flows. Leverage Data Factory for orchestrating complex data movement and transformation tasks.
  • Develop and optimise data models for reporting and analytics purposes, ensuring data is accessible and actionable for business decision-making.
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in Microsoft Fabric and data analytics technologies and incorporate new features or services into existing solutions as appropriate.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to data processing, integration, and performance within the Microsoft Fabric environment.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve platform-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to business operations

About You:

  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Business Information Technology, Data Science or equivalent fields
  • Relevant industry certifications (eg: Azure, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and SQL Server)   
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills and ability to navigate various parts of the organisation
  • High level of energy and curiosity - open to innovation and passionate about continuous improvement
  • Experience in delivering BI solutions in business enterprises
