Learn to Swim Instructor | Moana-Nui-A-Kiwa Pool and Leisure Centre (Māngere)
Here at Auckland Council, our leisure centres play a key role in achieving our goal of making Auckland the most active city in the world. And right now, we’re looking for Learn to Swim Instructors to join our Moana-Nui-A-Kiwa Pool and Leisure Centre team to help achieve that goal!
This is a fantastic job where you don’t need any formal qualifications or experience to apply – just a passion to work with our diverse community while also making a difference! We'll provide the training you need to succeed in the role.
Day-to-day you could expect to work on:
We have a permanent part-time position available at our centre.
You will need to be available on weekdays from 3:15pm till 6:30pm and weekends from 8:45pm till 1:30pm.
You will likely be working at least 1 weekday and 1 weekend shift. Availability to work on the weekend is essential.
He kōrero mōu: About you
You will be a great swimmer and instructor, have a love of water, have exceptional customer service skills, and be able to communicate well with members of the public.
Previous experience working with children would be beneficial.
If you do have a recognised swim teacher qualification or previous experience as a Swimming Instructor, that’d be fantastic. However, we will provide full, comprehensive training that you need to excel in the job.
If you do not have a recognised swim teacher qualification, e.g. AUSTSWIM, you will be required to attend the following training dates below and Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm:
To be considered for this role, you must also be willing to complete First Aid training.

Pay rate: $27.80 per hour
