About the team and role

The Enterprise Platforms team is Xero’s critical people technology solutions. These solutions are Xero’s internal facing systems servicing people, finance, legal, facilities, productivity, collaboration and core IT services, and as such are critical to ensuring our people can work efficiently and effectively. These solutions will enable, drive and report on our internal technology metrics and engagement.

As a Senior Product Manager you will be working with a talented team of specialists responsible for executing on our technology vision and roadmap by creating and delivering innovative solutions that ensures our internal productivity and collaboration tools scale and grow in maturity, in step with the global growth of Xero.

Ideal candidates will have experience with a suite of enterprise communication and productivity tools. Familiarity with platforms such as Slack, Google Workspace, Miro, and Zoom is desired, as well as experience with cloud telephony, audio visual solutions, or their Microsoft equivalents.

What you'll do

    • Contribute  to  the  broader  end  to  end  Enterprise  Technology  and Customer/People  Systems strategies, vision and direction.
    • Build,  maintain,  and  refine  your  products  and  solutions  strategy  and  vision,  accounting  for industry direction, technical direction, and business owner/stakeholder needs and outcomes.
    • Build and maintain a forward looking 18-month roadmap for your products / solutions.
    • Research and identify opportunities for improvement, consolidation, product market gap closure, and/or   in   business   approach   that   demonstrates   a   return   on   investment.   Present   these opportunities to the relevant Xero business and technology groups.
    • Define, measure and track key deliverables and operational metrics for your products, how they are delivering value to Xero, and improving over time.
    • Work  with  key  vendors  and  suppliers,  building  a  productive  relationship  that  enables  Xero  to extract  maximum  value  from  our  investment  in  these  solutions,  and  take  learnings  from  their industry knowledge and experience.
    • Balance  the  focus  across  operational  cadence  and  fixes  v’s  new  capability  and  initiative investment to ensure the solutions remain secure, robust and highly available.
    • Be  cognisant  of  risk,  security  and  compliance  requirements  as  they  pertain  to  your  solutions  / domain, engaging with the Security and Data teams to ensure alignment.
    • Own the budget planning and forecasting for your area. Completing this in conjunction with the Finance  team  and  GM,  being  accountable  for  the  financial  performance  of  your  domain,  in particular demonstrating a reducing cost to serve.
    • Work  in  partnership  with supporting  teams  to  ensure  you  have  forecasted  your  needs,  and manage  the  ongoing  input  and  performance  of technical  resources  in  conjunction  with  the technical resource team leads.
    • Lead, coach and mentor your direct team. Create and maintain a team and team environment where your people can have fun, learn, grow, achieve and are recognised and rewarded for their achievements.
    • Bring  a  service  mindset  to  your  work  and  your  team,  having  an  understanding  of  not  just the benefit you’ve delivered but how you’ve delivered, how you engage with your customers, and how you can improve service for them.
    • Create  space  and  opportunity  for  disruptive  thinking  /  innovation  for  you  and  your  team, challenging your stakeholders and Xero to change the game where there is significant upside.
    • Grow  both  direct  and  indirect  leadership  within  your  team,  ensure  your  team  can  continue  to scale, you have appropriate succession and attrition plans in place, and new Xero’s are quickly grown into productive members of the team.

What you'll bring

    • Experience managing Enterprise IT systems such as Slack, Google Workspace, Miro, and Zoom or equivalent.
    • Experience as a Product Manager in a software development / SaaS environment.
    • Experience leading a team of delivery and technical professionals, both directly and indirectly.
    • Advanced understanding of delivery methodologies, i.e. agile, waterfall, kanban, etc.
    • Demonstrated experience in supplier and commercial management.
    • Working knowledge / experience in marketing, sales, service, billing, people and/or finance industries.
