About The role

The Data Analyst – GP Workforce Analytics role at WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA) is focused on supporting WAPHA’s three Primary Health Networks (PHNs) by contributing to complex analytical projects. This position involves developing stakeholder maps, collaborating on data set requirements, and analysing the impact of data across the PHNs. 

The analyst will work closely with the GP Workforce Planning and Prioritisation (GP WPP) team to improve data integrity, undertake specialized analysis, and provide insights to enhance the coordination of care for individuals at risk of poor health outcomes. The role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in data visualization and analytics software, and the ability to communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This role will be offered on a Maximum Term contract until 31st December 2025 and offers the flexibility to work from home and office.

Core responsibilities:

  • Develop GP WPP stakeholder maps for GP catchment, regional, PHN, and jurisdiction (WA).
  • Collaborate on the development of data set requirements for the GP WPP activity.
  • Provide analysis and assessment of all GP WPP data impact across the three PHNs.
  • Work with the GP WPP team to improve data collection and measurement infrastructure.
  • Undertake projects requiring complex investigation and analysis from various data sources.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations for improvements to the team.
  • Consult with internal stakeholders to ensure optimal outcomes for the activity.
  • Attend relevant GP WPP meetings.
  • Ensure the smooth transition of data for activity reporting deliverables.
  • Maintain expert understanding of methodological and contextual matters related to key responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain an expert understanding of data governance principles and procedures.
  • Provide regular feedback on the usefulness of information and analysis systems.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to data collection and analysis methodologies.
  • Work closely with the Program Manager – GP WPP and Team Leader – Health Analytics to embed data requirements across the three PHNs.
  • Identify improvements to the data for the activity and ensure data governance is updated to reflect the inclusion of GP WPP data requirements.

About you

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following selection criteria:

Essential experience and education 

  • Tertiary degree in a health-related or quantitative discipline or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use statistical techniques to interpret data.
  • Experience in data preparation, analysis, and interpretation in a complex environment.
  • Proficiency in data visualization software like Power BI and data analytics software such as Python, SQL or R.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to translate analytical insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
